Governing Council

The Governing Council, established by the University of Toronto Act, 1971, is the senior governing body that oversees the academic, business and student affairs of the University.

  • Election of a ChancellorThe College of Electors of the University of Toronto invites nominations for the position of Chancellor of the University for a three-year term commencing July 1, 2006.
  • Nominations for Alumni Governors of the University of TorontoNominations are open for two seats on the Governing Council for alumni *. Nominations close at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 24, 2006. Each of these seats is for a three-year term, beginning July 1, 2006 and ending June 30, 2009. The University of Toronto Act requires that members of the Governing Council be Canadian citizens.
