Study Space

 > Students > Academic Resources > Study Space

All students need quiet places to study and work, as well as space for group learning and collaboration. The University of Toronto offers numerous study spaces throughout its campuses with extended hours, enabling students to study between classes, at night and on weekends in a comfortable, non-intrusive atmosphere.

St. George Campus

College Libraries

Undergrads can sample any of the college libraries to find the study space that suits them best. Discover the old fashioned reading rooms with tables, individual desks (called carrels) and lots of natural light in the libraries of Knox, Emmanuel and University College. Check out the “wired” spaces in the recently renovated libraries at Victoria and Trinity. Many of the college libraries have group study rooms that may be booked ahead of time.

Robarts Library

Robarts is the biggest library on campus and has seating on five stack floors which hold more than two million books in the humanities and social sciences. Most of the study areas in the stacks do not have access to windows with the exception of the three apex areas and group study rooms on each floor. There are also reading rooms on the second and third floors. The Robarts Library study space, on the first to third floors, is open 24 hours from Sunday to Thursday during the September to May academic session.

Gerstein Science Information Centre

The Gerstein Centre has study space, in the Morrison Pavilion for 800 students on five floors at the east side of the building facing Queen’s Park.

Sidney Smith Wrap Around

This newly renovated space is wireless, accessible study, and lounge space – perfect for relaxing between classes.

Hart House

Hart House has several lounges on its main floor and a second floor Library, all of which are open to all students for quiet study.
