The University of Toronto provides numerous high-performance computing facilities on all three campuses in support of its teaching, learning and research activities. Computer labs and facilities are also provided at most libraries, faculties and colleges.

Major Computing Facilities

St. George Scotia Bank Information Commons

Located in the Robarts Library, the Information commons is a major computing centre complete with:

Computer Access Facility

All computers in the Computer Access Facility are connected to the Internet and have browsers, e-mail, headphone jacks, front and back USB ports for connecting removable USB drives, and access to self-serve laser printers (students can use their TCards to pay for printing). All computers require students to login with a valid UTORid. Seventy-eight computers have Microsoft Office software; nineteen have a scanner with additional page layout, imaging, optical character recognition, and web design software.

Digital Studio

The Digital Studio has six computers with high resolution flat bed and film (positive and negative) scanners, 100/250MB ZIP drives and CD/R, CD R/W burners. All software found on the CAF computer is also available in the Digital Studio. Students should book these computers (free) ahead of time. Digital Studio staff can also help with imaging work and other projects on a fee-for-service basis.

New Media Suites

The New Media Suites offer five rooms for digital video and sound editing available for booking. Each room has an equipment rack allowing users to input from audio cassettes, VHS, CD, DVD, and mini DV sources. Digital video and still cameras can be signed out for course projects.

UTM Computer Facilities

UTM offers more than 100 computer stations and nine laptops available for short term loan (at the UTM Library circulation desk).

UTSC Computing Labs

UTSC Computing labs are available to students in the Bladen Building, 4th floor, and in the Informatics Commons in the UTSC Library. Two labs, B-494 and B-498, are designated for 24-hour use. Printing is available from all computing labs locations; your T-card is used to pay for and release print jobs from print stations. CopyKats has additional printing services.
