Get connected and stay connected!
The University of Toronto provides all students with a UTORid and access to the Internet through UTORdial, the University’s dial-up Internet service. In addition, the University’s campus wireless network (UTORcwn) enables students use their laptop computers to connect to the campus network using wireless/radio frequency technology.
It is critical that students connect safely and familiarize themselves University’s policies and procedures regarding Internet access and security.
In Residence
Connections through residences allow students to gain high speed online access to University resources and the wider Internet whenever they need it. There are rules, regulations and policies of course. Make sure that you are familiar with both the general “once, twice, three times you are out” regulation and residence specific rules and policies referenced below.

Wireless Zones: UTORcwn
The University of Toronto campus wireless network (UTORcwn) allows students, faculty and staff to use their laptop computers to connect to the campus network using wireless/radio frequency technology.
Check the wireless coverage maps to see where you can connect.
Dial-in Access: UTORdial
UTORdial is the University of Toronto’s dial-up Internet service. Using their computer and a modem, students can connect to the Internet at speeds up to 56 Kbps. UTORdial is available to all students, faculty, staff and alumni at the University.
There is a charge for using the dial-up UTORdial service. Charges are based on connection time and are pre-paid; that is, students purchase a "token" which allows a certain number of connect hours. Additional tokens must be purchased when the connect time has been used up.
To activate an UTORdial account, visit the UTORdial activation page. Students will need your Library number and student number ready.
