U of T Art Centre

The U of T Art Centre's exhibitions conform to the highest level of curatorial and didactic excellence while appealing to the many diverse communities served by the University. The provocative and stimulating roster of exhibitions reflects the leading role of the University of Toronto in the creation, transmission and protection of culture in Canada and the world.


Hart House

Located on the St. George Campus, Hart House offers a diversity of artistic and cultural experiences.

Hart House Theatre


This beautiful art-deco inspired 450-seat theatre offers a four play season, as well as other production and performance opportunities for students. The Theatre is host to Skule Nite, Dentantics, Daffydil, the Festival of Dance, the U of T Film & Video Festival and more.

UofTtix


U of T’s centrally located ticket out-let offers full Box Office services to all university venues, groups, clubs and departments. UofTtix is easily accessible by web, phone (416-97-UTTIX) and in person on Hart House’s lower level.


Hart House Farm

This 150 acre property nestled in the Caledon Hills provides an idyllic escape from the pace of university life. Hart House Farm features a beautiful farm house, three swimming ponds, traditional Finnish sauna and nature trails. Day trips and overnight stays are available.


Justina M. Barnicke Art Gallery


The Justina M. Barnicke Art Gallery is located on the first level of Hart House, west wing. Free admission to this beautiful gallery space allows you to experience Canadian art, both historical and contemporary, through the 11 exhibitions presented each year. Much of Hart House’s permanent art collection is on display through the House and gallery staff would be pleased to organize a viewing.


Readings

The Hart House Reading series bring the written word brought to life by the author – perhaps your favourite book or poem will be featured.

Concerts

Music in all its forms flourishes at Hart House. Open to all, experience a Sunday concert in the majestic Great Hall or Jazz at Oscars on Friday nights in the Arbor Room Café. Performances feature both student and professional musicians.

Hart House Lectures

The Hart House lecture series aspires to ignite public conversation and debate while encouraging civic leadership and participation.


Free Film Fridays

No plans this Friday night?  How about taking in a film at Free Film Fridays.  All films are presented in glorious 35mm and occasionally 16mm film on Innis Town Hall's really big Wide-Screen. See movies the way they were meant to be seen on Fridays at 7:00 p.m. in Innis College Town Hall, 2 Sussex Avenue (Northwest corner of St. George Street and Sussex, One block south of the St. George Subway Station).

 

UTM Arts and Culture


Blackwood Gallery


UTM’s award winning Blackwood Gallery, located in the Kaneff Centre, features exhibitions of contemporary art by both local and international artists. Gallery events are open to the UTM and surrounding community free of charge. Students can become involved in the gallery through work-study positions, volunteering and internships. Check the website for upcoming programs, lectures and gallery hours.

UTM Studio Theatre

Theatre Erindale houses the many productions of the Theatre and Drama program at UTM. Check Web site for details.


Bringing Arts and Culture to UTSC


Cultural Affairs

Cultural Affairs at UTSC exists to foster artistic and cultural activity on campus. Every season it presents student/faculty produced and directed theatrical productions, a literary series showcasing the finest in Canadian writing, as well as the annual Music of All Latitudes Concert series featuring Canada’s finest world musicians. Cultural Affairs also showcases the talents of its own staff, faculty, and students in the UTSC Concert Choir and Wind Ensemble.


UTSC Doris McCarthy Gallery


The Doris McCarthy Gallery, UTSC officially opened in March 2004 with the exhibition, Everything Which Is Yes, a survey of the works of Doris McCarthy. McCarthy is one of Canada’s most respected artists. She is a recipient of the Order of Ontario, the Order of Canada and five honourary degrees. McCarthy graduated from UTSC in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts degree.

The Doris McCarthy Gallery is dedicated to the presentation of leading contemporary art exhibitions of local and international interest. Please refer to the Gallery Web site for current information and exhibition programming.
