Procedure for Submission of Canadian JCMT Proposals

Absolute Deadline:

  • Canadian JCMT Proposals for Semester 2007-A (1 March 2007 to 31 July 2007) will be accepted until 23 November 2006 at 3 a.m. (Pacific Daylight Time).
  • CTAG would like to encourage more spectroscopic proposals at this time. There has been a shortfall of such proposals in recent semesters.

Submission Procedures:

You can obtain the new JCMT template at the Hawaiian address:
http://www.jach.hawaii.edu/JCMT/observing/calls/
or
http://proposal.astron.nl

Maximum electronic size:

Most proposals have a length near 1 megabyte. Referees start complaining and having reading / printer problems when asked to referee a proposal exceeding 2.1 Megabytes. Decrease the size of your figures, and/or supply the reader with a WWW address where the figures can be seen with a higher resolution and in colour.

If you do not receive an acknowledgement within three working days (excluding Sat. & Sunday), contact NRC-HIA's Dr. J.P. Vallée.

Important Considerations:

  • All times requested are to be expressed in hours. All times awarded are flexibly scheduled.
  • For a Ph.D. Student Thesis: Regulations are posted on the CTAG web site at
    http://www.hia-iha.nrc-cnrc.gc.ca/mag/ctag-students_e.html
  • Up to 5 pages of scientific justification are allowed for proposals asking 80 hours or more (irrespective of the number of semesters involved)

More details on the CTAG process:
