Message from the Vice-President and Provost

Welcome to the website for the University of Toronto the Office of the Vice-President and Provost.  This office is responsible for academic and budgetary matters at the University of Toronto.  On these pages you can find our recent communications, policies and procedures for a broad range of academic matters, and links to relevant internal and external websites. 

The Vice-President and Provost’s Office is engaged in the ongoing implementation of Stepping UP, our multi-year academic plan for the University of Toronto, approved by Governing Council in 2004.   

Stepping UP sets forth U of T’s vision for the coming years: to be a leader among the world’s best public teaching and research universities in the discovery, preservation and sharing of knowledge.  Our challenge is to build on our commitment to excellence, equity and outreach through five key priority objectives: enhancing the student experience; interdisciplinary activity; linking academic programs to research experiences; outreach – local, national, global; and equity and diversity.

Achieving our ambitious objectives as outlined in Stepping UP, requires that we have the necessary resources, infrastructure and processes in place.  The President, the Vice-Presidents, Principals and Deans are committed to working with our internal and external stakeholders to enable us to achieve our goals.
