Canadian Program Certification
New information centre for Canadian program certification applications
The CRTC is providing a new resource for independent
producers seeking information on Canadian program certification
applications. Producers can now communicate directly with Cindy Ventura,
Manager, Broadcasting Process and External
Liaison, who will be able to answer all questions concerning the use
and submission of forms and the status of applications. Contact Cindy by

The Canadian Program Certification Office allows
Canadian program producers to obtain Canadian certification for television
productions that make predominant use of Canadian crews and talents. See
the eligibility criteria below.
The CRTC establishes policies and regulations to ensure
that Canadian productions from creators enjoy a minimum level of exhibition
in Canada through Canadian content quotas.
From 1960 to 1998, the CRTC has received over 17,000
applications to certify productions for broadcasters, specialty services or
pay services. The total value of productions has increased from $260
million in 1993 to about $800 million in 1998.
