News Release:

CRTC strengthens telecom safeguards to permit fair competition

Broadcasting Decisions:

2002-437 Friends of Banff National Park Fellowship, Banff, Alberta. APPROVED – Replacement of the condition of licence describing the nature of service for the low-power radio station CFPE-FM, as described in the decision.

2002-438 Standard Radio Inc., Kitimat, British Columbia. APPROVED - New English-language FM radio programming undertaking at Kitimat to replace its AM station CKTK. The licence will expire 31 August 2009.

2002-439 Standard Radio Inc., Calgary, Alberta. APPROVED – Change of the authorized contours of the radio programming undertaking CJAY-FM Calgary.

2002-440 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Calgary, Alberta. APPROVED - Decrease of the effective radiated power of the French-language FM radio undertaking in Calgary from 100,000 watts to 10,000 watts.

2002-441 Harvard Broadcasting Inc., Regina, Saskatchewan. APPROVED - Intracorporate reorganization of Harvard Broadcasting Inc.

2002-442 Bayshore Village Association, Bayshore Village, Ontario. The Commission revokes the licence for the cable distribution undertaking authorized to serve Bayshore Village, Ontario.

Brodcasting Notice of Public Hearing:

2002-13-1 Further to its Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing CRTC 2002-13 dated 27 November 2002 relating to a Public Hearing which will be held on 3 February 2003 at 9:30 a.m., at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal, 201 Viger Avenue West, Montréal, Quebec, the Commission announced that it amends certain paragraphs of the introduction and correction to item 10.

Telecom Decisions:

2002-76 Regulatory safeguards with respect to incumbent affiliates, bundling by Bell Canada and related matters. Reference: 8622-G7-02/02.

2002-77 CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee - Consensus items. The Commission approves the following four consensus reports: Treatment of NXXs of code holders that discontinue service (CNRE026A); Canadian Central Office Code (NXX) Assignment Guidelines (CNRE028A); Account passwords (BPTF0034b); and Forecasts for unbundled local loops (BPRE011a). Reference: 8621-C12-01/00.
