What's New - February 29, 2000

The CRTC has implemented a one-numbering system for its broadcasting and telecommunications decisions and notices. All CRTC decisions and notices will now be numbered in sequence. We hope that this will make it easier for you to access our documents.

DECISIONS:

2000-70 WIC Western Internation Communications Ltd., Across Canada. APPROVED – Multi-step intracorporate reorganization relating to several of its wholly-owned subsidiaries. The licences will expire 31 August 2002, except for "MovieMax" which will expire 31 August 2000; "SuperChannel" which will expire 31 August 2001 and "Home Theatre" which will expire 31 August 2005.

2000-71 Haliburton Broadcasting Group Inc., Sudbury, Ontario. APPROVED - Renewal of the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CHYC Sudbury, from 1 March 2000 to 31 March 2000.

2000-35-1 Roger de Brabant, on behalf of a company to be incorporated, Timmins, Ontario. The Commission hereby corrects Decision CRTC 2000-35, by changing the second sentence in paragraph 1 as follows: The applicant currently operates CHIM-FM, an English-language Christian music radio station, in Timmins.

ORDERS:

2000-161 Cochrane. TN 22. The Commission approves the company’s request for new rates to reflect its purchase of Northern Telephone Limited’s Cochrane area customer base. The Commission however requires that Cochrane charge the same rates to all customers subject to the purchase. Eff. date = 1 March 2000.

2000-162 Northern. TN 118. The Commission approves a $4 local rate increase for most Northern customers effective 1 March 2000. The increase will allow Northern to go ahead with Phase I of its Service Improvement Program. The increase will also allow the company to eliminate mileage charges. The Commission however denies Northern's proposal for expanded local free calling areas based on natural calling centres.

2000-163 NBTel. TN 819. The Commission approves, on an interim basis, an ex parte application filed on 30 September 1999. Eff. date = 29-02-2000.

2000-76-1 Intrigna. TN 1. General Tariff (CRTC 21350) – Corrections to Order CRTC 2000-76 dated 1 February 2000.
