What's New - March 10, 2000

The CRTC has implemented a one-numbering system for its broadcasting and telecommunications decisions and notices. All CRTC decisions and notices will now be numbered in sequence. We hope that this will make it easier for you to access our documents.

More French-language digital TV channels throughout Canada -- CRTC issues call for comments on new policy

NOTICES:

2000-32-1 Further to its Public Notice CRTC 2000-32 dated 1 March 2000, the Commission hereby announces that the following application was inadvertently omitted from the public notice: TDM NEWCO, Terrebonne, Mascouche, Lachenaie and part of St-Louis-de-Terrebonne, Quebec. Services altered or deleted: CNBC & TMN 3 CMT & Viewers Choice 2. Deadline for intervention: 5 April 2000.

2000-36 Comments solicited for solution to telephone number exhaust in southern British Columbia. Reference: 8698-C12-06/00. This public notice seeks input to identify solutions to create a new telephone area code for parts of southern British Columbia. Parties wishing to comment on this and other proposals contained in this public notice are asked to respond within 30 days of its release.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING:

2000-2-1 Further to its Notice of Public Hearing CRTC 2000-2 dated 3 March 2000 relating to its Public Hearing which will be held on 9 May 2000 at 9:00 a.m. at the Holiday Inn Kingston-Waterfront, 1 Princess Street, Kingston, Ontario, the Commission announces the following amendment to Issue No. 1, Item 1: World Television Network/Le Réseau Télémonde Inc. (WTM), across Canada.

ORDERS:

2000-187 Island Tel TN 537. The Commission approves Island Tel's request filed pursuant to Order CRTC 2000-17, to withdraw the tariff for the 50% discount on long distance calls routed through the Island Relay Service. Eff. date = 14.03.2000.

2000-188 MTT TN 771. The Commission approves MTT's request filed pursuant to Order CRTC 2000-17, to withdraw the tariff for the 50% discount on long distance calls routed through the Maritime Relay Service. Eff. date = 14.03.2000.

2000-189 NBTel TN 835. The Commission approves NBTel's request filed pursuant to Order CRTC 2000-17, to withdraw the tariff for the 50% discount on long distance calls routed through its Message Relay Service. Eff. date = 14.03.2000.

2000-190 TCI TN 197. The Commission approves TCI's request to extend the TCI Business Local Exchange Service Charge Waiver Promotion to 12 September 2000. Eff. date = 14.03.2000.

2000-191 TCI TN 194. The Commission approves TCI's request to incorporate wordings to clearly reflect the payments to TCI in the event of termination of service prior to the expiry of the contract term. Eff. date = 13.03.2000.
