NEWS RELEASE:

CRTC approves Quebecor acquisition of TVA on the condition it sell TQS, renews TVA's licence for another seven years

DECISIONS:

2001-384 Quebecor Média inc, on behalf of Groupe TVA inc., across Canada. APPROVED - Transfer of effective control of TVA to Quebecor Média inc.

2001-385 Groupe TVA inc., across Canada. APPROVED - Renewal of the licencess of the French-language national television network TVA and of the French-language television programming undertaking CFTM-TV Montréal, from 1 September 2001 until 31 August 2008. DENIED - Request to be exempted from section 11(1) under which a licensee may not broadcast more than 12 minutes of advertising in any clock hour in a broadcast day.

2001-509 CRTC approves depreciation submission by People's Telephone Company of Forest Inc. – The depreciation of equipment and other assets is part of the calculations that telephone companies use to determine their service-delivery costs. Recently, People's Telephone Company of Forest Inc. provided the Commission with the company's first depreciation study for all of its accounts since August 1996, when the Commission began regulating independent telephone companies. With one exception, the Commission approves the submission by People's. Reference: 8630-P1-01/01.

2001-524 The Commission approves Roxborough's request to eliminate extra exchange mileage charges on single and two-party lines outside the base rate area and to eliminate the four-party line residence and business service.
