NEWS RELEASE:

CRTC wants comments on telephone number depletion in 613 and 819 area codes.

DECISIONS:

2001-230-1 Shaw Cablesystems Company, Shaw Cablesystems (SMB) Ltd., Prairie Co-Ax TV Ltd, MacGregor, Manitoba; Assiniboia, Bengough, etc., Saskatchewan; Pincher Creek, Cowley and Lundbrek, etc., Alberta; Fairmont Hot Springs and Columere Park, etc., British Columbia. The Commission hereby corrects Decision CRTC 2001-230 dated 24 April 2001 which approved carriage of a second set of U.S. 4+1 signals on a discretionary digital basis on the Class 3 cable distribution undertakings serving the communities noted above. Access Communications Co-operative Limited should not have been included in the list of applicants.

2001-357 Star Choice Television Network Incorporated, Across Canada. APPROVED – Amendment to condition of licence related to spending on program production.

2001-358 Gretsinger Cablevision Limited, Spences Bridge, British Columbia. Revocation of its licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving Spences Bridge.

2001-359 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, CHUM Limited, Telemedia Radio Inc., Astral Radio inc. RENEWED - Broadcasting licences for the transitional digital radio undertakings listed in the decision, from 1 September 2001 to 31 August 2002.

2001-360 OKS Cable Corporation. Application no. 2001-0595-9 – APPROVED – Relocation of the local head-end of the cable distribution undertaking serving Terrace, BC.

NOTICE:

2001-58-1 Digital migration issues: Call for comments regarding small cable systems. At the request of the Canadian Cable Television Association, the Commission extends the deadline for the filing of reply comments to 20 July 2001.

2001-71 Telephone numbers in area codes 613 and 819 will soon be depleted. Solutions and recommendations for a relief plan have been identified by a subcommittee of the CRTC Industry Steering Committee. This public notice invites comments on solutions and recommendations in determining the appropriate relief method(s) and date(s) for these area codes. Parties who wish to provide comments are requested to submit their responses to this public notice by 8 August 2001. Reference: 8698-C12-16/01. 2001-472 The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's request, filed on behalf of Maritime Tel & Tel Limited and NewTel Communications Inc. to remove MTT's General Tariff CRTC 10001 Item 4500 and NewTel's General Tariff CRTC 13001 Item 210; and introduce a common Megalink service for customers in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador. Reference: MTT TN 799, NewTel TN 653 and APTC TN 35. Eff. date = 18.06.01.

2001-473 The Commission approves the 9-1-1 amending agreement between the Province of Nova Scotia and Aliant Telecom Inc. Reference: 8340-M1-0081/02.

2001-474 The Commission approves Appendices 9A, CCS7 transit service, of the Interconnection Agreement between Bell Canada and the ACTQ members. Référence : 8340-B2-0036/04, 8340-B2-0041/04, 8340-B2-0042/05, 8340-B2-0043/05, 8340-B2-0044/06, 8340-B2-0045/05, 8340-B2-0046/04, 8340-B2-0047/05, 8340-B2-0048/03 and 8340-B2-0089/04.

2001-475 The Commission approves Appendices 10A, CCS7 transit service, of the Interconnection Agreement between Bell Canada and the OTA members. Reference: 8340-B6-0529/11, 8340-H3-0532/11, 8340-E25-0534/11, 8340-P1-0540/11, 8340-H4-0533/11 and 8340-T7-0544/11.

2001-476 The Commission approves, on a final basis, rate increases by Execulink to its local residential and business services, effective 1 January 2001. The rates filed reflect the Commission's directive issued in Order CRTC 2000-1088, dated 4 December 2000. Reference: TN 33.

2001-477 The Commission approves MTS' request to increase the monthly rate associated with the following calling features for all individual-line residential and business customers, and for multiline business customers. Reference: TN 457. Eff. date = 10.07.01.

2001-478 The Commission approves Sogetel's request to establish an extended area service between the exchanges of Nicolet and Manseau. Reference: TN 101. Eff. date = 25.08.01.

2001-479 The Commission approves TELUS Québec's (formerly Québec-Téléphone) request to offer, free of charge, two SmartTouch services to all new single-line residential customers for the first two months of subscription, from 21 August 2001 to 20 August 2002. Reference: TN 304. Eff. date = 21.08.01.

2001-480 The Commission approves, on an interim basis, an ex parte application filed by Bell Canada on 18 May 2001. Reference: TN 6587.

2001-481 The Commission approves, on an interim basis, an ex parte application filed by Bell Canada on 1 June 2001. Reference: TN 6591.

2001-482 The Commission approves, on an interim basis, Northwestel's request to introduce a $0.25 rates compensation per call which applies to the interexchange carriers (IXC) for every toll-free call that orignates at the company's public or semi-public telephones and is carried by the IXC. Reference: TN 756. Eff. date = 25.06.01.

2001-483 The Commission approves Aliant Telecom's request, filed on behalf of Maritime Tel & Tel Limited, to increase the monthly rate for local residence, business and Centrex service by $0.19. Reference: MTT TN 800. Eff. date = 03.07.01.
