News Release:

CRTC setting criteria to reduce regulation of local telephone markets

Telecom Public Notice:

2005-2 The Commission initiates a proceeding and invites comments on a framework for forbearance from the regulation of residential and business local exchange services. Reference: 8640-C12-200505076 and 8640-A53-200403329.

Broadcasting Decisions:

2005-175 3819914 Canada inc., Saint-Pamphile and Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Quebec. DENIED – Addition of a transmitter in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli.

2005-176 CIBM-FM Mont-Bleu ltée, La Pocatière and Saint-Aubert, Quebec. APPROVED – New transmitter in Saint-Aubert of the radio programming undertaking CHOX-FM La Pocatière.

2005-177 Rogers Cable Communications Inc., Midland and Strathroy, Ontario. The Commission revokes the broadcasting licences issued to Rogers Cable Communications Inc. for the undertakings mentioned in the decision.

2005-178 Standard Radio Inc., Fort St. John, British Columbia. The Commission revokes the broadcasting licence issued to Standard Radio Inc. for CKNL Fort St. John.

Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing:

2005-4-3 Further to its Broadcasting Notice of Public Hearing CRTC 2005-4 dated 7 April 2005, the Commission announces a correction to item no. 8 (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network Incorporated). Please note that the deadline for submission of interventions/comments for this application is extended to 18 May 2005. It also announces that at the request of the applicant iem no. 24 (Windermere Community Association) is withdrawn from the public hearing.

Telecom Orders:

2005-161 The Commission approves on a final basis an application by TELUS Communications Inc. dated 22 February 2005, in order to introduce feature bundle contract pricing under the Residence Value Bundle and Residence No Limits Bundle. Reference: TN 166.

2005-162 The Commission approves on a final basis, as modified in Telecom Order CRTC 2005-148, an application by La Compagnie de Téléphone de St-Éphrem inc., dated 23 March 2005, to increase its rates for residential and business primary exchange services. Reference: TN 36.

2005-163 The Commission approves on an interim the following tariff applications: Téléphone Guèvremont inc. TNs 45 and 46, Northwestel Inc. TN 822, TELUS Communications Inc., formerly TELUS Communications (B.C.) Inc., TN 4234, and TELUS Communications Inc. TN 177.
