News Release:

The CRTC approves the acquisition of radio stations in Quebec by Corus Entertainment and Astral Media Radio subject to certain conditions.

Broadcasting Decisions:

2005-15 Astral Media Radio inc. and 591991 B.C. Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Corus Entertainment Inc., Amqui, Drummondville, Rimouski, Saint-Jean-Iberville, Montréal, Québec, Gatineau, Saguenay, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Lévis, Quebec. APPROVED - Exchange of radio assets in Quebec between Astral Media Radio inc. and Corus Entertainment Inc. The new licences issued to Corus expire 31 August 2009. The Commission has decided to maintain the current expiry date for all licences for the stations acquired by Astral, that is, 31 August 2006, with the exception of the licence for CFVM-FM Amqui, which will expire 31 August 2009. 2005-16 Metromedia CMR Broadcasting Inc. Longueuil, Quebec. APPROVED - Authority to operate the station within the predominantly spoken-word Specialty format, and to remove the existing condition of licence regarding the broadcast of English-language vocal musical selections.

2005-17 Astral Media inc., on behalf of Astral Media Radio inc. Lévis, Quebec. APPROVED - Acquisition as part of an intracorporate reorganization of the assets of the radio programming undertaking CFOM-FM Lévis from Radio Etchemin Inc. The Commission will issue a licence to Astral Media Radio for the remainder of the term of CFOM-FM’s licence, which expires on 31 August 2006, upon surrender of the current licence to the Commission.

Broadcasting Public Notice:

2004-47-1 Call for responses to submissions on the Canadian Cable Telecommunications Association’s proposal to amend the policy regarding the use of local availabilities.
The Commission will accept the comments that it receives on or before 21 February 2005.

2005-32 The Commission approves an application by Bell Canada, dated 15 December 2004, to revise the wording of several items. Reference: TNs 6847 and 853 (NST). Eff. date = 21.01.05.

2005-33 The Commission approves an application by Bell   Canada, dated 21 December 2004, to withdraw General Tariff item 1415, Bell Neutral Answer Service, as there are no longer any customers using the service. Reference: TN 6848. Eff. date = 21.01.05.

2005-34 The Commission approves the model Basic Listing Interchange File Agreement filed by Videotron Telecom Ltd. on 14 December 2004. Reference: 8340-V22-200415027.

2005-35 The Commission approves an application by NorthernTel, Limited Partnership, dated 16 December 2004, to introduce two Centrex II service promotional campaigns: the first, from 4 April 2005 to 17 June 2005, and the second, from 12 September 2005 to 25 November 2005. Reference: TN 214. Eff. date = 21.01.05.
