CRTC announces new area code to be added in 905 region

DECISIONS:

2000-317 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Hopedale, Makkovik, Nain and Postville (Labrador) Newfoundland. APPROVED – Renewal of the broadcasting licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking consisting of CBNHT Hopedale, CBNMT Makkovik, CBNBT Nain and CBNPT Postville, from 1 September 2000 to 31 August 2007.

2000-318 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Bamfield, Bella Bella, etc., British Columbia. APPROVED – Renewal of the broadcasting licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking listed in the decision, from 1 September 2000 to 31 August 2007.

APPROVED – Renewal of the broadcasting licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking consisting of CBDDT Dawson, CBKHT-1 Elsa, CBDBT Faro, CBKHT-2 Mayo, CBDAT Watson Lake and CFWH-TV Whitehorse, from 1 September 2000 to 31 August 2007.

ORDERS:

2000-763 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 22 June 2000 to extend the Winback promotion and the Existing customer promotion. Reference:  TN 6486.

2000-764 The Commission approves Bell Canada's request to waive service charges for a six-month period, until 20 February 2001, for the channelized DS-3 accesses which consolidate existing Megalink or digital exchange accesses and DS-1 accesses used for other services, and for the channelized DS-1 accesses connected to Megalink or digital exchange access service which are configured to utilize the new DS-0 connectivity feature. Reference:  TN 6500 and 728 (NST). Eff. date = 21.08.2000.

2000-765 The Commission approves MTS's request to increase the current monthly rate Call waiting plus to $1 and the monthly rate for Visual call waiting to $2.65, and to reduce by $1 the monthly rate for an additional Calling feature when customers subscribe to two or more features. Reference:  TN 424. Eff. date = 01.09.2000.

2000-766 The Commission approves Québec-Téléphone's request to introduce the Sale of directory files service to Section 1.05 of its General Tariff. This service provides a machine-readable file containing non-confidential information taken from Québec-Téléphone listings for subscribers who are listed, or who will be listed, in its directories. The Commission also approves the license agreement, wherein the terms for applying for this new service are described. Reference:  TN 277 and
8340-Q1-0634/00. Eff. date = 01.11.2000.

2000-767 The Commission approves Télébec's request to offer these promotions: 1) residential and business individual-line service customers in four exchanges of the Îles-de-la-Madeleine who subscribe to Call answer from 21 August to 30 September 2000, will receive a one-month free service; and 2) residential and business individual-line service customers in all exchanges where Call answer is available, from 18 September to 18 November 2000, will receive a one-month free service. Reference:  TN 247. Eff. date = 21.08.2000.

2000-768 The Commission approves TCI's request to provide five DS-1 access channels from a specific customer location outside the base rate area served by the Vegreville central office. Reference:  TN 259. Eff. date = 21.08.2000.

2000-769 The Commission approves TCI's request to provide an initial DS-1 access channel from a specific customer location outside the base rate area served by the Ft. Saskatchewan central office. Reference:  TN 261. Eff. date = 21.08.2000.

2000-770 The Commission approves TCI's request to provide an initial DS-1 access channel from a specific customer location outside the base rate area served by the Leduc central office. Reference:  TN 262. Eff. date = 21.08.2000.

2000-771 The Commission approves TCI's request to provide an initial DS-1 access channel from a specific customer location outside the base rate area served by the Ft. Saskatchewan central office. Reference:  TN 263. Eff. date = 21.08.2000.

2000-772 The Commission approves the introduction of a new area code in the southern Ontario region currently served by area code 905. The new area code will be implemented in a "distributed overlay" over the exchanges that comprise the current 905 area code. All existing customers in the 905 area code will retain their current telephone number. Once implemented in June 2001, new numbers may be assigned from the new area code. Reference:  8698-C12/00.
