What's New - January 18, 2000

The CRTC has implemented a one-numbering system for its broadcasting and telecommunications decisions and notices. All CRTC decisions and notices will now be numbered in sequence. We hope that this will make it easier for you to access our documents.

DECISIONS:

2000-10 CTV Sports Net Inc., Across Canada. APPROVED - Amendment to Sports Net licence permitting the delivery of all four of its existing regional feeds to individual broadcasting distribution undertakings on a digital-only basis.

2000-11 CFCP Radio Ltd., Courtenay, Campbell River, Powell River and Port Hardy, British Columbia. APPROVED - Amendments to the licences of radio stations CFWB Campbell River, CHQB Powell River and CFNI Port Hardy, allowing the stations to broadcast programming received from studios at Courtenay.

2000-12 CKMW Radio Ltd., Toronto, Ontario. APPROVED - Addition of a digital radio broadcasting transmitting service at Toronto.

2000-13 CHWO Radio Ltd., Toronto, Ontario. APPROVED - Addition of a digital radio broadcasting transmitting service at Toronto.

2000-14 CJMR 1320 Radio Ltd., Toronto, Ontario. APPROVED - Addition of a digital radio broadcasting transmitting service at Toronto.

2000-15 Trumar Communications Inc., Toronto, Ontario. APPROVED - Addition of a digital radio broadcasting transmitting service at Toronto.

2000-16 CIRC Radio Inc., Toronto, Ontario. APPROVED - Addition of a digital radio broadcasting transmitting service at Toronto.

ORDERS (TELECOMMUNICATIONS):

2000-13 Rates set for access to telephone companies' support structures. File Nos.: Stentor TN 485; BC TEL TN 3637; Bell TN 6022; NBTel TN 647; MTS TNs 244 and 278; TCI TN 926; TCEI TNs 15 and 55; Québec-Téléphone TN 170; and Télébec TN 126. This order provides for national rates, terms and conditions for access to incumbent telephone companies' poles and conduit by cable companies and telecommunications carriers. The CRTC also rules on issues of support structure capacity, application of construction standards, and the access approval process. This order follows previous Commission rulings made in Telecom Decision CRTC 95-13 and Telecom Order CRTC 96-1484. It also results from the Commission's consideration of the Joint Report presented to the Commission on 17 April 1997 by the incumbent telephone companies, the Canadian Cable Television Association and the Competitive Telecommunications Association. The report is the product of the participants' consultations on contentious issues mandated by the Commission in Order 96-1484.

2000-14 NewTel. TN 629. APPROVED. Introduction of a new single line business service bundle called the Business Service Package which includes: a single line business Primary Exchange Service; any three eligible features; and 60 minutes per month of direct dialed long distance calling within Canada, any time of day, any day of the week. Eff. Date = 18.01.2000.

2000-15 Québec-Téléphone. TN 255. APPROVED. Introduction of a SmartTouch Services promotion whereby single line residence and business customers who subscribe to one of the SmartTouch calling features (Ident-A-Call, Call Waiting, Three-way Calling, Call Return or Call Screen) will, with the purchase of three months prepaid, benefit from this offer at a cost of $5.00. Eff. Date = 18.01.2000.

2000-16 Télébec. TN 231. APPROVED. Continuation, in 2000, of the "la Course aux Étoiles", "Introduction des services Étoiles" and "Offre de Bienvenue" promotional programs, both permanent and flexible. Eff. Date = 18.01.2000.
