NEWS RELEASE:

The CRTC grants a broadcasting licence to "la Télé des Arts" a new french-language arts and culture specialty channel

INFORMATION:

Modes of distribution for «Télé des Arts»

DECISION:

2000-386 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Télé-Québec, BCE Média inc., La Sept ARTE and L’Équipe Spectra, on behalf of a company to be incorporated – (La Télé des Arts), Across Canada; CHUM Limited and Astral Média inc., on behalf of a company to be incorporated – (Rendez-vous des artistes), Across Canada. APPROVED – A new French-language specialty television service called "la Télé des Arts", to be available to distribution undertakings across Canada. The licence will expire 31 August 2007. DENIED - Competing application filed by CHUM Limited and Astral Média inc., on behalf of a company to be incorporated – (Rendez-vous des artistes).

NOTICES:

2000-74-2 Availability of French-language specialty services outside Quebec – Additional question relating to Télé des Arts service. Deadline for intervention: 6 October 2000.

2000-128 Linkage requirements for direct-to-home (DTH) satellite distribution undertakings.

2000-129 Distribution and linkage requirements for Class 1 and Class 2 licensees.

NOTICES OF PUBLIC HEARING:
