RELEASE:
The CRTC
grants a broadcasting licence to "la Télé des Arts" a
new french-language arts and culture specialty channel

DECISION:
2000-386
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Télé-Québec, BCE
Média inc., La Sept ARTE and LÉquipe Spectra,
on behalf of a company to be incorporated (La Télé des Arts), Across Canada; CHUM
Limited and Astral Média inc., on behalf of a company to be
incorporated (Rendez-vous des artistes), Across Canada. APPROVED A new
French-language specialty television service called "la Télé des Arts", to be
available to distribution undertakings across Canada. The licence will expire
31 August 2007. DENIED - Competing application filed by CHUM Limited and Astral
Média inc., on behalf of a company to be incorporated (Rendez-vous des artistes).
