CRTC awards a radio licence to Cogeco, renews CHOI-FM's licence for two years and denies amendments to CKNU-FM's licence.

Broadcasting Decision:

2002-189 Genex Communications inc., Québec, Quebec. APPROVED – Short-term renewal of the licence of CHOI-FM Québec from 1 September 2002 to 31 August 2004.

2002-190 Genex Communications inc., Donnacona, Quebec. DENIED by majority vote – Amendment of the licence of radio station CKNU-FM Donnacona to expand the contour toward Québec, by deleting the condition of licence limiting the solicitation of advertising and by amending the condition relating to local programming.

2002-191 Cogeco Radio-Télévision inc., Québec, Quebec. 3924301 Canada inc., doing business under the name and style of Communications Lévis 2001 Lévis, Quebec, Métromédia CMR Montréal inc., Québec, Quebec, 9098-7280 Québec inc., Québec, Quebec.
APPROVED, by majority vote - Application by Cogeco Radio-Télévision inc. for a licence to operate a French-language FM radio station in Québec.

2002-282 The Commission approves Bell Canada's application, dated 23 May 2002, to add item D7(r), 56 Kbps Data Channels, to its Special Facilities Tariff in order to provide a 56 Kbps digital facility between Ste-Rose-du-Nord and Chicoutimi, Quebec. Reference: TN 6675. Eff. date= 16.07.02.

2002-283 The Commission approves Bell Canada's application., dated 24 May 2002, to revise General Tariff item 60.2, Exchange Rate Groups, in order to correct the name of an independent company exchange from St-Nazaire d'Acton and St-Nazaire (Wickham) to St-Nazaire. Reference: TN 6676. Eff. date= 16.07.02.

2002-284 The Commission approves Bruce Municipal Telephone System's application, dated 10 May 2002, to revise item 2.02, Seven-Digit Telephone Numbers - Rates and Charge, under section 230 of its General Tariff. Such revisions will have no material impact on rates or services provided. Reference: TN 99. Eff. date= 16.07.02.

2002-285 The Commission received an application by Thunder Bay Telephone, dated 22 May 2002, to revise item 2.21, Gigabit Ethernet Local Area Network – Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, under section TB1000 of its General Tariff, in order to replace the 36-month initial service period of with one of 24 months, and revise the monthly rate to better reflect the requirements of the customer.Reference: TN 102. Eff. date= 16.07.02.

2002-286 The Commission approves Microcell Connexions Inc.'s (Microcell) application dated 14 May 2002, for approval of the executed Appendix 3 to Schedule C, and a revised page 5 of Schedule C of the Master Agreement for Local Interconnection between Microcell and Bell Canada. Reference: 8340-M29-0852/01.

2002-287 The Commission approves TELUS Communications Inc.'s application dated 24 May 2002, to revise several items of the former TCI General Tariff in order to adopt the uniform banding structure approved in Decision CRTC 2001-238, 27 April 2001. Reference: TN 489. Eff. date= 16.07.02.

2002-288 The Commission approves TELUS Communication (Québec) Inc.'s application dated 22 May 2002, to revise General Tariff item 2.20.03, SmartTouch Services, in order to introduce a promotion for local business service subscribers from 8 July 2002 to 31 December 2002. During this promotion, all local business customers that sign a 12-month contract for Centrex service would receive voice messaging service free of charge for the duration of the contract. Reference: TN 329.
