The Short Film Channel

 

On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a Category 2 specialty television service to be known as The Short Film Channel. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today.

 

Conditions of licence

 

The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 and in the licence to be issued.

 

Nature of service

 

a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service dedicated exclusively to short films, the filmmakers, the subjects, the festivals, and the technical aspects of their filmmaking.

 

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from categories 7g and 12, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990.

 

Definitions

 

Broadcast day shall have the same meaning as that set out in section 2 of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987.
