The Love Channel
|
|
On 24 November 2000, the Commission approved a Category 2 specialty television service to be known as The Love Channel. The terms and conditions generally applicable to Category 2 services are set out in the public notice accompanying this and other decisions released today.

Conditions of licence
|
|
The licence, when issued, will expire 31 August 2007 and will be subject to the following conditions as well as to those set out in both Public Notice CRTC 2000-171 and in the licence to be issued.

Nature of service
|
|
a) The licensee shall provide a national English-language Category 2 specialty television service dedicated exclusively to love, romance and relationships. Programming will feature docu-soaps focusing on relationships, talk shows about romance for all ages and over the ages, films related to this special subject and performances for the romantically inclined. The service will also take a look at the darker side of love.

b) The programming must be drawn exclusively from the following categories, as set out in Schedule I to the Specialty Services Regulations, 1990:
5b, 7a, 7c, 7d and 7g.

Definitions
|
|
Broadcast day shall have the same meaning as that set out in section 2 of the Television Broadcasting Regulations, 1987.
