As part of the expanding dialogue, the WTO hosted its second public symposium in Geneva between April 29 and May 1, 2002. Called "The Doha Development Agenda and Beyond", the symposium provided a forum for dialogue among a range of WTO critics, analysts and stakeholders, including government representatives. Geneva, Switzerland (July 6 - 7)

The WTO commissioned the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) to prepare a comprehensive report of this Symposium. At the same time, the Government of Canada felt it was important to have a report which captured the views and reactions from the perspective of a Canadian NGO. The North-South Institute (NSI) and the Canadian Centre for International Cooperation (CCIC) have provided this perspective.
