Consulting Canadians:

Canada and Emerging Markets

The Government of Canada is Seeking the Views of Canadians on the Development of an Emerging Markets Strategy

Closing date: January 31, 2005
(extended to February 28, 2005)

Canadian prosperity and economic security depend upon our ability to export goods and services and to benefit from investment. Positioning ourselves for the future is vital.

In November and December 2004, three consultative roundtable sessions on emerging markets were co-hosted in Ottawa by International Trade Minister Jim Peterson and Parliamentary Secretary Mark Eyking. Participants in the roundtables included representatives from the academic field, civil society and the business community. Common themes addressed during these sessions ranged from the identification of opportunities/challenges/issues, to the way Canada should “respond”, through the review of the priorities and factors necessary for achieving success in emerging markets.
