The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises
The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises Guidelines are
recommendations addressed by governments to MNEs which set out voluntary
principles and standards of responsible business conduct in areas
such as the environment, labour, human rights and anti-corruption.
The Government of Canada encourages Canadian companies to observe
the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises in their operations
abroad. While the Guidelines are voluntary, the Government has a
formal mechanism for dealing with issues that arise in relation
to Canadian companies and the Guidelines. The Canadian
National Contact Point for the Guidelines, an interdepartmental
body lead by International Trade Canada, offers a forum for discussion
and is set up to assist the business community, employee organisations
and other parties concerned to deal with the issues raised.
