Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-232

Revocation of licence

1.

The Yellowknife Rebroadcasting Society has requested the revocation of its broadcasting licence for the radiocommunication distribution undertaking (RDU) authorized to serve Yellowknife, Northwest Territories.

2.

Given the licensee’s request, the Commission revokes, pursuant to sections 9(1)(e) and 24(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the broadcasting licence issued to The Yellowknife Rebroadcasting Society for the above-mentioned undertaking.
3. This RDU currently broadcasts the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s (CBC) national English-language network service Radio Two from CBU-FM Vancouver, British Columbia. In CBU-FM Vancouver – New transmitter in Yellowknife, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-224, also released today, the Commission authorizes the CBC to operate a transmitter in Yellowknife to rebroadcast Radio Two from CBU-FM. Accordingly, the residents of Yellowknife will continue to receive Radio Two by means of the CBC’s transmitter.
