Acquisition of assets

1. |
The Commission approves the application
by CHUM Limited (CHUM) and Milestone Media Broadcasting (Edmonton)
Limited (MMBEL), a corporation controlled by Milestone Media Broadcasting
Ltd. (MMBL), for the acquisition by MMBEL of the 49% partnership
interest in Edmonton Vibe Partnership (EVP) held by MMBL. CHUM and
MMBL, the current partners of EVP, have been authorized to operate
the new commercial FM radio programming undertaking approved in Urban
FM radio station in Edmonton, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2004-133,
5 April 2004 (Decision 2004-133).1
Following this transaction, MMBEL will become the partner with CHUM
in EVP. |

This transaction will not result in any
change in the effective control of the undertaking, which will continue
to be exercised by CHUM. |

The Commission did not receive any
interventions in connection with this application. |
4. |
The licence for the undertaking approved
in Decision 2004-133 will be
issued once CHUM Limited and Milestone Media Broadcasting (Edmonton)
Limited, partners in a general partnership carrying on business as
Edmonton Vibe Partnership, have met the licensing requirements set
out in Decision 2004-133 and
in Urban FM radio station in Edmonton – Technical change, Broadcasting
Decision CRTC 2004-567, 23 December
2004, and have informed the Commission in writing that they are prepared
to commence operations. |

The new licence will expire 31 August 2010,
the same expiry date as that set out in the original licensing decision,
and will be subject to the same terms and conditions as those
specified in the above-noted licensing decisions. |

The Commission expects MMBEL to submit an
executed copy of its Shareholders Agreement. |

In accordance with Implementation of an
employment equity policy, Public Notice CRTC 1992-59,
1 September 1992, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider
employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other
aspects of its management of human resources. |
