NEWS RELEASE:

CRTC seeks public comments to establish a framework for the expansion of local calling areas

DECISIONS:

2001-235 Médiacâble inc., Trois-Rivières, Quebec; Cogeco Câble Laurentides inc., Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs, Quebec. APPROVED - Transfer of the assets of the cable distribution undertaking serving Trois-Rivières from Cogeco Câble Canada inc. to Médiacâble inc.; and of the assets of the cable distribution undertaking serving Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs from Médiacâble inc. to Cogeco Câble Laurentides inc. The licence for Trois-Rivières will expire 31 August 2001 and the licence for Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs will expire 31 August 2004.

2001-236 Huntsville Cable Systems Limited, Dunchurch; McKellar; Orrville; and Parry Sound, Ontario. APPROVED – Acquisition of the assets of the cable distribution undertakings serving the localities noted above, from Radio and T.V. Distribution Limited. The licences for Dunchurch, McKellar and Orrville will expire 31 August 2001 and th licence for Parry Sound will expire 31 August 2002.

2001-237 CJMC Radio du Golfe, Saint-Anne-des-Monts and Gros Morne, Quebec. APPROVED – Addition of a transmitter at Gros Morne.

2001-238 In this decision, the Commission approves revised unbundled loop rates that competitive local exchange carriers will pay for the use of the incumbent local exchange carriers' (ILECs) unbundled loops. It also addresses the costs to be used as the basis for establishing the subsidy requirement under the recently-approved national subsidy mechanism. Reference:  8661-C12-02/00.

NOTICES:

2001-46 Cable Public Affairs Channel (CPAC) – Call for comments on possible change to the regime governing the carriage of this service by broadcasting distribution undertakings. [Information:  Secondary Audio Programming – SAP]

2001-47 The CRTC is seeking public input to establish a set of general principles and criteria to be used in assessing applications for creation of common local calling areas. Reference:  8663-C12-04/01.

ORDERS:

2001-336 The CRTC denies TCBC's applications for the creation of common local calling areas in the Cariboo and the Central Okanagan Regions and for the addition of the Mission/Abbotsford exchanges to the Greater Vancouver Region local calling area of British Columbia. Reference:  TCBC TNs 4104, 4104A, 4127 and 4132.

2001-281-1 Correction to Order CRTC 2001-281 dated 5 April 2001 – Access to directory file service and basic listing interchange file service approved for CanopCo. Reference:  8622-C67-01/00.
