Decision CRTC 2001-470

Ottawa, 3 August 2001

Sent by fax: (403) 508-5560

Mrs. Jennifer Strain
Vice President
Corporate and Regulatory Affairs
Craig Broadcast Systems Inc.
535 7th Avenue SW
Calgary, Alberta
T2P 0Y4

Dear Mrs. Strain:

Application No: 2001-0733-5 - Approved
Extension of time limit to 6 July 2002
New MDS radiocommunication distribution undertaking at Victoria, Vancouver, Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Penticton, Kelowna and Vernon, British Columbia
4120965 Manitoba Ltd. which is known as Skycable Pacific

This is further to your request of 29 June 2001 for an extension of the time limit to implement the MDS radiocommunication distribution undertaking to serve the above-noted locations approved in Decision CRTC 2000-220 dated 6 July 2000.

Please be advised that the Commission approves your request and hereby grants a twelve-month extension of the time limit, namely until 6July 2002.

This extension does not of course, relieve you of your responsibility to implement the authority to operate the MDS radiocommunication distribution undertaking to serve the above-noted locations at the earliest possible date.

Should the completion of the new installations not be completed within the period stipulated in this letter or, should the Commission refuse to approve an extension requested by the licensee, the licence will not be issued.

As stipulated in Decision 2000-220, the authority will only be effective and the licence will only be issued at such time as the construction of the undertaking is completed and it is prepared to commence operation. Consequently, the applicant is required to advise the Commission, in writing, once it has completed construction and is prepared to commence operation of the undertaking, at which time, the Commission will issue the licence.

This decision letter is available for public examination at the Commission’s central office. The Commission also requires you to append this decision letter to Decision 2000-220 granting you a licence.

Sincerely,

Ursula Menke
Secretary General
