NEWS RELEASE:

CRTC wants to hear from the public on proposals to deal with the area code 519 telephone number shortage

DECISIONS:

2001-590 Athabasca Motor Hotel (1972) Limited, Jasper, Alberta. APPROVED - New low-power English-language FM radio station at Jasper, expiring 31 August 2008.

2001-591 Fawcett Broadcasting Limited, Fort Frances, Ontario. APPROVED - New English-language FM radio station at Fort Frances to replace AM station CFOB. The licence will expire 31 August 2008.

2001-592 Cogeco Radio-Télévision inc., Montréal and Laval, Quebec. APPROVED - Broadcasting licence for a transitional digital radio undertaking to serve Montréal and Laval, expiring 31 August 2002.

2001-593 Natotawin Broadcasting Inc., North Battleford, Saskatchewan. APPROVED – Change in the frequency of its transmitter VF2331 North Battleford from 94.7 MHz (channel 234LP) to 95.5 MHz (channel 238B) and increase in its effective radiated power from 49 watts to 28,000 watts.

2001-594 Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, Grand Rapids, Manitoba. APPROVED - Deletion of transmitter CBWHT-1 Grand Rapids.

2001-595 CTV Television Inc., Calgary, Alberta. APPROVED - Increase of the effective radiated power for CFCN-TV Calgary from 55,000 watts to 100,000 watts.

2001-596 Brian Kelly, on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated, Tsiigehtchic, Northwest Territories. Revocation of the licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving Tsiigehtchic.

NOTICE:

2001-94-1 Further to its Public Notice CRTC 2001-94 dated 17 August 2001, the Commission announces a correction to item 4: at the applicant's request, Access Communications Co-operative Limited, Regina, Saskatchewan, has been withdrawn.

2001-101 Providing relief for the diminishing supply of telephone numbers in area code 519. Telephone numbers in area code 519 will soon be depleted. A subcommittee of the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee has identified solutions and recommendations for a relief plan. This public notice invites comments on solutions and recommendations in determining the appropriate relief method and date for this area code. Parties who wish to provide comments are requested to submit their responses to this public notice by 15 October 2001. Parties that wish to reply to these comments must submit their responses by 29 October 2001. Reference: 8698-C12-12/01 - 8698-C12-17/01.

ORDERS:

2001-701 The Commission approves, with changes, a standard non-disclosure agreement for third-party Internet access services provided by smaller cable carriers.Reference: 8340-C13-0648/00.

2001-702 The Commission approves Cochrane's final 2001 Carrier Access Tariff (CAT) rate effective 1 January 2001 and directs the use of proxy minutes for the billing and collection of CAT revenues. Reference: 8695-C12-09/99.

2001-703 The Commission approves Northwestel's request to eliminate the discount schedule for Customer Volume Pricing Plan. Reference: TN 761. Eff. date = 17.09.01.
