What's New - February 5, 2001NEWS RELEASE: CRTC seeks diversity of local voices – reviews community cable television and low power radio. NOTICES: 2001-18 Access Communications Co-operative Limited, Regina, Estevan, Weyburn and Yorkton, Saskatchewan. Authority to distribute a second set of 4+1 U.S. network signals which will be selected from the List of Part 3 Eligible Satellite Services; 4+1 means four (4) U.S. commercial network signals (CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX) and one (1) U.S. non-commercial network signal (PBS); and to distribute any of the Canadian signals included on the List of Part 3 Eligible Satellite Services. These Canadian stations are those which can presently be distributed by Class 3 cable systems. Deadline for intervention: 12 March 2001. 2001-19 Review of community channel policy and low-power radio broadcasting policy. The Commission seeks comments on issues relating to its policy frameworks for community cable television channels and low-power radio stations. The Commission will consider such revisions in conjunction with the development of a new licensing framework for low-power community-based television undertakings in urban areas and smaller communities, and in its development of an integrated policy approach to community-oriented programming undertakings. Deadline for intervention: 7 May 2001. 2001-20 Establishment of a CISC ad hoc committee for area code relief planning in area codes 613 and 819. ORDERS: 2001-102 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 13 August 1999 to introduce Consumer Solutions along with an associated promotion and a revision to its Calling Features. Reference: TN 6383. 2001-103 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 17 November 1999 to revise its Calling features, Integrated Voice Messaging Service and Consumer Solutions packages. Reference: TN 6407. 2001-104 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 2 August 2000 to add references to indicate that SimplyOne service is available for use with a Keypak bundle and to introduce a KeyPak wireless arrangement. Reference: TN 6503. 2001-105 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 3 October 2000 to make available to competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs) the toll-free billing information for calls originating from competitive pay telephone service providers' pay telephones, connected to a CLEC's network, which are routed to the company's network gateway. Reference: TN 6521. 2001-106 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 4 October 2000 to reflect the addition of Centrex local and individual residence line to the list of services in Item 685.2(g) for which no service charge applies when migrating to a KeyPak bundle. Reference: TN 6522. 2001-107 The Commission approves, on a final basis, Bell Canada's application dated 24 December 1996 to provide for central office building space and power and associated charges to co-locate a competitive access provider's fibre facilities and transmission equipment into the company's central-offices.
