Distribution of Jerry Lewis Labour Day Telethon
|
1. |
The Commission approves the application to amend the
licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving Ottawa,
during the "Jerry Lewis Labour Day Telethon". This
amendment will only be effective during the telethon, from 2001 to
2006. The telethon is usually held on Labour Day weekend and lasts
about 22 hours. |
2. |
The amendment will allow the licensee to interrupt the carriage
of the telethon on originating station WHEC (NBC) Rochester, New
York, in order to broadcast locally-produced segments of the
telethon. |
3. |
The licensee is therefore relieved, by condition of licence,
from the requirement of section 7(a) of the Broadcasting
Distribution Regulations that it not alter or delete a
programming service in the course of its distribution. |
4. |
The Commission also approves, by condition of licence,
the licensee's request to distribute the signal of WHEC, with the
locally-produced segments, on its community channel, for the
duration of the telethon. |
