CHNU-TV Fraser Valley and its transmitter in Victoria – Technical change

1. The Commission approves the application by Rogers Broadcasting Limited, the licensee of the television programming undertaking, CHNU-TV Fraser Valley (known as OMNI BC), to change the authorized contours of the transmitter authorized in CHNU-TV Fraser Valley, CIIT-TV Winnipeg – Acquisition of assets, new transmitter in Victoria, and new licences, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2005-207, 20 May 2005, by relocating the transmitter, by decreasing the antenna height, and by increasing the average effective radiated power from 720 watts to 17,000 watts.
2. The licensee indicated that the new site will improve the potential reliability of OMNI BC’s signal and improve efficiencies in the construction of the antenna site.
3. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.
4. The Commission reminds the licensee that, pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met, and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
