Application No. 2006-0925-8 |
|
Application by Bell Canada
to amend the Regional licence of its Class 1 cable distribution
undertaking serving Montréal and surrounding areas. |
|
The licensee is requesting to
be relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirement pursuant to
section 17(1)(c) of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations to
distribute the programming service of the local television stations
CHLT-TV (TVA) Sherbrooke, Quebec and CJOH-TV-8 (CTV) Cornwall, Ontario. |
|
The Commission notes that the
licensee distributes, as part of its basic service, the programming
service of the local television stations CFTM-TV (TVA) and CFCF-TV (CTV)
Montréal. |
|
Bell submits that it is
operationally inefficient and of no benefit to its subscribers to offer
what are essentially duplicate priority programming services from the
same network sources. |

|
The licensee proposes to add a
low power FM transmitter at Chibougamau to broadcast the
programming of CHEF-FM Matagami in order to serve the population of

|
The transmitter would operate
on frequency 96.9 MHz (channel 245LP) with an effective radiated power

3. |
Windsor, Ontario
Application No. 2006-0924-0 |
|
Application by Blackburn Radio
Inc., on behalf of its subsidiary Bea-Ver Communications Inc.,
to amend the licence of radio programming
undertaking CKUE-FM Chatham. |
|
The licensee proposes to amend
the licence by changing the frequency of its transmitter CKUE-FM-1
Windsor, Ontario from 95.1 MHz (channel 236A) to 100.7 MHz (channel 264B1). |
|
The licensee also proposes to
change the authorized contours of CKUE-FM-1 Windsor by increasing the
average effective radiated power from 1,950 watts to 3,840 watts
(maximum effective radiated power 9,000 watts/antenna height of 74.5 metres). |
|
CKUE-FM-1 Windsor is currently
operating as a synchronous frequency of CKUE-FM Chatham. |
|
The licensee states that the
change in frequency and increase in power will reduce interference zone
and provide a better signal for the traveling public in and around
Windsor and Chatham. It further states that the changes will improve
reception in the Windsor auto plants, large buildings, as well as
provide extensive interference free coverage of the city of Windsor and
will eliminate most of the persistent co-channel interference to CKUE-FM
Chatham and CKUE-FM-1 Windsor. |
