WTO GATS Negotiations
Canada's Initial Offer
At the November 2001 Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar, WTO members agreed that all members would submit their initial General Agreement on Trade in Services (GATS) offer by March 31, 2003. In accordance with this declaration, Canada has submitted its initial conditional offer. The initial GATS offer outlines what Canada is prepared to offer other countries in exchange for greater access to their service markets.
This offer follows Canada's initial requests in WTO Services Negotiations, released in July 2002, and Canada's initial position in the GATS, made public in March 2001.
