BY TELECOPIER

Ottawa, 17 December 2001

To: Parties to Public Notice CRTC 2001-37

Re: Public Notice CRTC 2001-37: AT&T and Call-Net Part VII application re seeking interim relief

The Commission received the above-noted application on 13 December 2001. The applicants suggest that the prevailing price cap regime will end on 1 January 2002, and that absent an order granting the relief requested, there would be no clear indication as to the prevailing regulatory regime. The applicants have asked the Commission to deal with the application on an expedited basis, requesting that interested parties file comment by 17 December 2001, and that reply comment be filed by 19 December 2001.

I note that the current price cap regime remains in place until such time as the Commission establishes the regulatory regime that will go into effect sometime in 2002.

This application will not be processed on an expedited basis. Rather, interested parties are to file any comments within 30 days from the date of this letter, copying the applicants. The applicants are to file any reply comments within 10 days of the filing date for comments, copying interested parties.

All documents to be filed and served should be actually received and not merely sent by the dates indicated.

Yours sincerely,

Shirley Soehn
Executive Director, Telecommunications
