Re Upcoming CRTC hearing

 

The Service Improvement Plan provides substantial subsidies to unserviced "communities" (10 residents or more )  of $25,000 where the resident only has to pay $1,000.  Effectively, the rest of the customer base must pay for this.

How are the subsidizing customers of Telus getting a payback on this subsidy. - ie are the local rates going to be high enough to cover the interest and principal repayment of the subsidies over time?  How many years will this take?

 

Secondly, I don't agree with business customers have no rate increase constraineds.  Over the last number of years inflation has been substantially less than the 10% proposed for areas with no competition and unlimited where there is competition.
