Dear Sir or Madam,

I am forwarding this as my objection to the TELUS proposal to raise rates for local

service by up to $3 per month per year to a maximum monthly rate of $35 per month for

residential customers.

Telecom businesses are enjoying healthy rates of income and profit. Increasing rates as

they are proposing will result in financial hardship to persons such as seniors and

individuals or families in the lower or fixed income brackets.

Phone services are a necessity for all and should not be priced out of the financial

range of some.
