Subject: CRTC review 'price cap review'

To whom it may concern:

I have just received my Telus phone bill along with the card/invitation

to attend the Price Cap Review and Related Issues.

I am appalled that the thought of raising the monthly rate is even being

considered. As far as I know Telus is a private/publicly traded company

in a monopoly position.

As consumers we don't have the choice to choose a different phone

company, only for long distance calls. The basic rules of economics

states that competition will improve service, r & d, and service

fees/pricing. Take the long distance market as an example. Ten years

ago 1 minute overseas cost as much a $1/min. Now the I pay 38cents/min.

and there are even cheaper plans. My family and I do not support the

possibility of a price hike. We feel that the $31.66 that I pay monthly

is more than enough for the service that is provided. Have you ever

tried to get anything done over the phone with Telus? No competition

equals no service and no customer relations.

As a taxpayer and a person that has no other choice but to use Telus I

hope that my voice can be heard, and once again I do not support the

price hike. Telus should get the money from their shareholders for

upgrading and improving their service. I wonder if it has anything to

do with the acquisition of and expansion into the cell phone market.

Sincerely,

Martin Biros
