Subject: PUBLIC NOTICE CRTC 2001-37
Importance: High
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
I am writing in response to the Notice to Customers included in my September 2001 Telus bill, specifically, the Public Notice CRTC 2001-37 which proposes the following:
(1) Service Improvement Plan to extend service to unserved communities.............paid in part by the customers obtaining service (up to $1,000 of the first $26,000 per household) and in part by a subsidy from all other customers (for any amount beyond the customer's $1,000 per household up to a maximum of $25,000 per household)............... would be paid entirely by a subsidy from all other customers; and
(2) Telus has also proposed that it have the flexibility to raise rates for local services by up to $3 per month to a maximum monthly rate of $35 per month for residential customers.
I wish to voice my DISAGREEMENT with the above-noted proposals. I do not wish nor want to shoulder a financial cost of upgrade for unserved areas as I strongly feel this is, and should be, the responsibility of Telus, not it's customer base.
Further, I DISAGREE with Telus' proposal for flexibility to raise rates for local service. At the present level of service that Telus customers receive, I do not believe there is a justified cause for rate increases at this time.
I thank you for the opportunity of voicing my opinion.
Regards,
Karen Froude
