Subject: CRTC PROCEEDING FOR LOCAL TELEPHONE SERVICES

I am a resident of Summerside, PEI.

I have not been pleased with the local telephone company increasing the rates the past couple of years, and matter of fact just recently the phone bill went up again.

I assumed that when the 3 maritime telephone companies merged and formed Aliant, that this would reduce production costs, and management costs, thus creating a surplus and thus, giving that surplus back to its' customers. However, now Aliant wants another increase, to offset inflationary costs.

Well, I hate it when a large company complains about inflation costs and they want an increase, God forbid, I do not get an increase everytime the inflation goes up, and certainly the old age seniors get some inflation increase on their OAS cheques, but it is definitly not enough to talk about.

I think this Aliant company should tighten its belts, and do like everyone else, 'CUTBACK'

Sure, you are providing better telephone services then in the past 30 years, but still, there is a limit to everything.

I do not like this idea that Aliant is proposing for the next year, and hope it is stopped now, because there are a lot of people on fixed incomes who are feeling the crunch now, and this is not going to help by giving into them.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter.
