Subject: TELUS raise rates for local service
My comments:
(1) Telus is doing a poor job in the 10-digit dialing. I was in New York
City 8 years ago, in Queens, area code 718. If I dialed a # to Manhattan,
area code 212, I dialed 1 212 xxx xxxx, like a long distance #, but still
was a local call. If I dialed a # within area 718, I did not need to dial
718. Why New Yorkers could do it at least 8 year ago, Telus can't do it
today?? What kind of rocket science is needed for Telus to achieve what the
Yankees had done at least 8 years ago? Shame!!! I am very sick of dialing
604 area code each time I dial a local call in greater Vancouver. Whenever a
phone is picked up, the system knows right the way the location of the
phone, and what area code it is, doesn't it???
Don't fool me, I am a programmer and was an electronic enginner.
(2) As hardware and software high tech is blooming so rapidly, I don't see
any justification of raising the local service fee. Since BCTEL changes to
Telus, my local basic phone bill has gone up from about $27 to about $30 for
the same type of service, and now have to dial 604 area code, so the service
is worse, but the charge is higher. This is unreasonable.
At your wish, please give any explanations if you think I am wrong.
