I am a rural resident of the City of Ottawa and I contract all of my services from Bell including long distance.

I have the following issues with Bell service that should be addressed by Bell prior to granted any rate increase:

1. It is long distance for me to call my neighbour 1.6 Km down the road in Mountain Township.

2. It is long distance for me to call Kanata, another suburb of the City of Ottawa.

3. Sympatico service is not available in Osgoode, even in the town, let alone rurally. A Bell agent explained that there was not sufficient high-tech business (as in say Kanata) to warrant service for quite a while into the future.

4. The best connection I have ever made from 56Kb to 56Kb modem is 28.8Kb and this was only once. The normal connect rate is 19.2Kb or 21.6Kb. The local line connect quality is poor.

I am a resident of the City of Ottawa, yet I am lacking all of these services. Bell should resolve the long distance charging and the line service quality issues prior to being granted rate increases.

Thank you,

Hugh Roddick
