I am writing this letter to express my strong opposition to
the request by the alliant companiy for a rate increase for rural
suscribers in nova scotia. This company has a monoply over the basic
landline sevice in nova scotia. They should not be permitted to single
out a certain group of suscribers for a rate increase. In many cases
rural suscribers are less affulent. In rural communities the telephone is
an absolute necessity.Increasing their telephone rates could mean a
great hardship to them.
I also feel that the part of the hearings in which individuals
can express their feelings personally to the board be held in nova
scotia.Rural nova scotians should not have to travel to Hull que to meet
the board and express their opinions.Holding the hearings in Hull will
insure that very few people will be ther to express their opinions.
