Subject: Phone rate hike in Nova Scotia
Dear Sir,
I read in the Halifax Chronicle Herald of August 28 that Aliant Telecom,
parent of MTT Halifax, had submitted a request to increase the basic
rate for telephone services in Nova Scotia from $25 to $29.95 for rural
customers.
I am termed a rural customer living in North Alton (outside of
Kentville) and I had been already paying $29.95 for the basic service.
This was further increased to $33.95 as of June 15, 2001. Can you
please tell me which rates are correct - those in the Herald or those
that I am now paying ? It would appear to me that I am being grossly
overcharged. I have also tried to contact Aliant by phone and fax but I
never reach anybody but a telephone operator.
Thanking you for the opportunity of expressing my opinion and I would
hope that I will receive a reply to this e-mail either from the CRTC or
Aliant (MTT).
