Canada and Singapore are partners in several international political and economic fora. This section monitors developments related to these organizations that are of interest to our bilateral relationships and Canadian interests. These organizations include, among others, the United Nations, the World Trade Organization and the ASEAN Regional Forum and ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference. Canada and Singapore are also partners in APEC. Public and Cultural Affairs The Public and Cultural Affairs section of the Canadian High Commission assists in media relations, academic and cultural activities by providing information, and publicizing High Commission activities and Canadian Government initiatives. Cultural relations are promoted by improving the general knowledge, enhancing local understanding, as well as raising the profile and awareness of Canada and its culture among Singaporeans and residents of Singapore. The section advises, supports, and promotes Canada's artists and cultural industries in Singapore, in the role of liaison or sponsor for Canadian talents in collaboration with local arts, cultural, academic and media organizations, thereby ensuring that relationships in the arts, cultural, academic, and media sectors help to match Canadian and Singaporean resources and interests in the realm of public and cultural affairs. This section is also the contact point for all media enquiries to the High Commission and can provide information regarding High Commission and departmental statements, speeches and press releases.
