CRTC INITIATES A PUBLIC CONSULTATION IN MANITOBA
ON MTS' PROPOSED INCREASE IN TELEPHONE RATES
OTTAWA-HULL — The Commission will hold a public consultation in Winnipeg on
Saturday, November 7, 1998 at the Delta Winnipeg Hotel commencing at 9:00 a.m. to address
an application by MTS to increase its telephone rates.
The Commission has been persuaded, by the comments it received from MTS subscribers and
other interested groups in Manitoba, to hold a public consultation so that you can present
your views to us on the appropriateness and timing of MTS' proposal to increase telephone
rates. This increase in rates is to provide for the recovery of future income tax
expenses.
We have chosen to hold this public consultation on a Saturday to ensure that this
public process is as accessible as possible to everyone who has an interest in this issue.
If you wish to participate in the public consultation we would ask that you contact us
at our toll-free number or call our regional office in Winnipeg by October 30th.
If you just want to listen and not make a presentation, please feel free to do so. If you
can't attend in person but wish to provide written comments to us, we would ask that you
do so by November 20th.
