News Release December 12, 2000 CRTC PUBLIC HEARING FOR MTS COMMUNICATIONS INC. OTTAWA-HULL — On September 7th, 2000, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced it would be holding an oral public hearing in Winnipeg to examine the amount MTS Communications Inc. (MTS) will need from its customers to recover income tax expenses for the years 2000 and 2001. The CRTC hereby announces that the public hearing will be held at the Winnipeg Convention Centre – in meeting room 4 – located at 375 York Avenue starting at 9:00 a.m. on January 10th and 11th, 2001. The first day of the hearing will be conducted in an informal setting where subscribers can provide their views to the CRTC. On the second day, MTS and registered interested parties will conduct cross-examination of expert evidence. The public is invited to comment on any matter that should be taken into account in considering MTS’ application by making an oral presentation on January 10th. As well, provision will be made for subscribers outside of Winnipeg to participate by telephone.
