Availability of third-language television services in
Canada
OTTAWA-GATINEAU — The Commission has licensed, authorized and/or
approved the following third-language television services for distribution
in Canada:
Canadian ethnic third-language services:
5 ethnic specialty services licensed under the analog framework (the
Analog services)
21 launched Category 2 third-language ethnic specialty and pay
services licensed under the digital framework
30 unlaunched third-language ethnic Category 2 specialty and pay
services licensed under the digital framework
There are also 4 licensed over-the-air ethnic television services, each
serving multiple languages.
Foreign third-language services:
6 are currently being carried
13 additional services are authorized for carriage, but are not yet
carried
