LetterFile No.: 8180-8/00 Ottawa, 3 October 2000 BY FACSIMILE Mr. Norm Peacey Dear Mr. Peacey: RE: Confirmation - Fulfillment of CLEC Requirements Alberta Edmonton British Columbia AXXENT Corp. This is in response to a letter from AXXENT Corp. ("AXXENT") dated 9 August 2000 in which it provided information regarding how it satisfied the requirements imposed on Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLECs) in Telecom Decision CRTC 97-8, Local Competition, 1 May 1997 (Decision 97-8). Based on the statements made by AXXENT in its letter, Commission staff considers that AXXENT has met the CLEC requirements set out by the Commission in Decision 97-8. AXXENT can provide service as a CLEC, provided it continues to meet those requirements and complies on an ongoing basis with the Canadian ownership and control regime set out in section 16 of the Telecommunications Act and in the associated regulations. Yours sincerely, Campbell Laidlaw c.c.: A. De Caigny, Central Fund Administrator |
