Wednesday, April 4th, from 6pm - 7pm is Seven Second Delay Bat Night at NYC's UCB Theatre! This episode will feature comedian and Saturday Night Live alum Darrell Hammond, musical guest Amy Allison & WFMU Bat Night! The first 45 people through the UCB doors will receive a WFMU bat, and they will then pummel the 46th person in line. So arrive early! The UCB Theatre is at 307 West 26th St in NYC, near 8th Avenue. Admission is $5.
Thanks again to everybody who made WFMU's 2012 Fundraising Marathon our best one ever! All payment forms have now been mailed out to anybody who made an unpaid pledge. If you have not yet received your forms in the mail, please contact Listener Services Honcho Joe McGasko here. We'll start mailing swag in early April, but please be patient as it takes us months to send it all out. And yes! You can always make a pledge here.
The 6-story snack chips tower did not fall on us, luckily and WFMU survived another bout with Austin, TX. We put on our first unofficial party at Beerland on March 17th and you can check out the archive for the full live action hosted by Liz Berg, Brian Turner, and Jason Sigal. Great performances all night from: Electric Jellyfish, The Wedding Present, Death of Samantha, The Supreme Dicks, Xray Eyeballs, and The Men! Snapshots of the evening included, full archive here. And check other past WFMU special live broadcasts archived here! UPDATE: Sets downloadable now via the Free Music Archive!
The return of White Hills to WFMU on Sunday, April 8th from 3-6am: Chris M hosts some true psychedelia from outer space on his Imaginary Radio show. Performing in Brooklyn on April 9th and NYC on April 10th, catch them here first! Heavy riffs and psychotic reactions abound as the band stops by to perform material from their new Thrill Jockey album, Frying On This Rock. Hidden brainwashing rayguns and ultrasonic mountain grills!
Coming to Underwater Theme Park with Meghan, Thursday, April 5th on the 6-9 AM web only: Johannesburg’s Spoek Mathambo makes the Afro-futurists look old school. With the arrival of his second album, Father Creeper, he’s one man building up an army to make his creative visions a reality, rewriting any artistic laws in his way. Is Africa the future? Maybe. Probably. Whatever the case, Africa is the now, and nobody is expressing that better than Spoek Mathambo.
The WFMU time is now 12:32pm EDT on Monday.
